2024 marks 10th Annual University United Festival

These days, just about every district of Buffalo has a festival that spotlights the positive things that are taking place in that respective neighborhood. In the University District, there’s the annual University United Festival.

2024 marks the festival’s 10th year, which is very significant. The event has become a rallying cry for the diverse neighborhood, which takes place near the intersection of two distinct commercial corridors – Bailey Avenue and Main Street. The University at Buffalo’s South Campus is located at that intersection, which adds an entirely different advantageous element to the mix. South Campus is also where the festival takes place.

In 2022, 23,000 people from across the district, city, region, and state attended the festival. Each year those numbers grow, thanks to festival’s varied offerings, including a kick-off parade down Bailey Avenue, food trucks, vendors, a Kids Zone, and live music. This year’s entertainment is as follows:

Entertainment: Performances by R&B group Silk, twice-platinum singer-songwriter Musiq Soulchild, and five-time Grammy-nominated artist Robin Thicke. The concert, which starts at 3 PM, will be introduced by Buffalo-natives Vibrant Strings and held at the University at Buffalo’s South Campus, Rotary Field.

Kids Zone: Sponsored by Highmark, the Kids Zone will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including amusement rides, games, and entertainment, providing a fun and safe environment for children and families.

Festival Details: The festivities will commence with a lively parade down Bailey Ave at 2 PM, led by a King and Queen of the community. The festival will include an array of food trucks, vendors, giveaways, local merchandise, and community information booths.

Fireworks Celebration: In honor of the festival’s 10th anniversary, M&T Bank will co-sponsor a grand fireworks display with Skylighters Fireworks of WNY to conclude the day’s events, providing a finale to this special celebration.
