Caffeinated Injustices

On Friday, February 3rd, 2023, from 5-8 p.m., artist Bianca L. McGraw will be featured in an opening reception where she will discuss her latest exhibition of paintings and sculptural works. McGraw, whose artistic medium is coffee, will also be presenting a sculptural installation inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and created entirely from LEGO blocks.

McGraw is able to find artistic inspiration in places that most people consider routine. She uses elements, such as coffee, to express her innermost feelings.

Bianca is very passionate about the importance of how art, advocacy, and communal/cultural environments intersect.

As of late, McGraw has focused her emotional paintings on the May 14 mass shooting that occurred at the Tops supermarket on Buffalo’s East Side. The process has allowed her to better cope with the tragedy. Now, she’s offers up this healing art form to others via her upcoming show titled “Caffeinated Injustices.”

“Art continues to be my bandaid,” notes McGraw.

The Western New York Book Arts Center presents an exhibition in the Main Gallery by artist Bianca L. McGraw, on view February 3 – March 4, 2023. An opening reception will be held Friday, February 3rd, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. An artist talk will take place at 6 p.m.

This show is made possible by the New York State Council of the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the  New York State Legislature.
