College sports enter new era of ‘chaos’ as states react to flurry of new laws

Thousands of college athletes will soon be able to capitalize off their personal brands — a concept that’s commonplace in professional sports but has been prohibited at the collegiate level. The trouble is, there is no national framework or legislation in place to help student-athletes and their universities navigate a new frontier for collegiate athletics, creating tension and concerns throughout the college sports ecosystem.
