New Owners Plan Swan Street Rehab

Oakvale Homes & Development plan to renovate 162 Swan Street for commercial and residential use.  The Hamburg-based company owned by Nick Baldo and Costa Kalonaros purchased the two-story building last week for $654,000. They are still working on renovation plans but intend to use a portion of the first floor as an office for their firm and the remainder as restaurant or retail space.  Two apartments are planned for the second floor.

Oakvale Homes & Development provides custom home building and home remodeling services throughout the region. Oakvale currently has its primary operating facility in Hamburg and the additional location is expected to serve their clients in Buffalo and the Northtowns.

“Costa and I have been renovating properties in the Buffalo area since 2011,” said Baldo. “We are both from Hamburg, left for college, and returned to Buffalo to grow our careers and raise our families. Costa lives in Hamburg and I live in North Buffalo.”

Adds Baldo, “We intend to retain the general architectural/ design integrity of the building while paying tribute to the original design for the Simon Tap Room.”
