For anyone who has ever thought about biking in Buffalo, GObike Buffalo is the organization that leads the way towards creating the safest streets possible. That said, there are other cities that are way, way ahead of Buffalo when it comes to engaging bike safety measures. While we have certainly won some hard-fought battles, cars are still king of the road in the Queen City on the Lake. Does it have to be that way?
Recently, I had an opportunity to sit down with Justin and the organization’s Communications Director, Kevin Heffernan.

(L-R) Kevin Heffernan and Justin Booth
Recently, founder and Executive Director of GObike, Justin Booth, was named as a distinguished 2024 Transportation Power 100 by City & State Magazine. Here’s what they had to say about Buffalo’s staunch advocate for bike culture:
“Justin Booth says a redesign of the Scajaquada Expressway in Buffalo will reduce car traffic, improve the environment and increase pedestrian access to the waterfront. Booth and the Scajaquada Corridor Coalition are advocating for the redesign of the highway, which connects I-190 to the Kensington Expressway, to become a two-lane at-grade street with no highway connection. Booth says the plan will reduce pollution in Scajaquada Creek and restore land to Delaware Park. Booth’s organization, GObike Buffalo, advocates for local transportation policy that takes cyclists and pedestrians into consideration.”– City & State Magazine
