Local chefs to prepare harvest-inspired dishes paired with beverages and educational activities
There’s no better way to learn about the local sustainable food landscape in Buffalo, than by attending Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) “Raising the Roots” tasting event. The annual farm-to-fork gathering features delicious farm fresh foods served up by nine local chefs.
Raising the Roots (for Equity) is also a fundraiser for MAP, which is one of the local farms that will be providing seasonal-select produce to the chefs. The event will be held on Saturday, September 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmhouse & Community Food Training Center located at 387 Massachusetts Avenue.
Live music will be provided by Comienzos, a new Buffalo trio who will perform music from around the world including Latin America, Brazil, and Eastern Europe.
Tastings will include food, and a selection of beer, wine and other beverages at various stations. Attendees will get a firsthand look at just how important it is to support the local farm community, while eating foods that are prepared by using wholesome and ethically sourced ingredients.
“We believe that good food has the power to build strong communities. By bringing together chefs, farmers, and food enthusiasts we create a vibrant environment where we can unite around a shared passion for a more equitable food system here in Buffalo,” said Diane Picard, Executive Director at MAP.
