Shakespeare in Delaware Park Chills Out with “The Winter’s Tale” as Buffalo Heats Up

It’s a scorcher in Buffalo, and while we’re all muttering “Too hot, too hot!” under our breath (channeling a line from the play), there’s a perfect escape waiting: Shakespeare in Delaware Park!

A chilling tale for a toasty summer night kicks off the 49th season with the opening night of William Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale” which runs through July 14 (Tuesday – Sunday).

A Tale of Jealousy, Redemption, and Magic

“The Winter’s Tale” is a a roller coaster ride of tragedy, comedy, and romance.

King Leontes of Sicilia spirals into a jealous rage, wrongly accusing his wife Hermione of infidelity. This sets off a chain of events filled with betrayal, loss, and the passage of time. Directed by Kate Powers, this production boasts a talented cast and creative team featuring VerNia Garvin (Hermione), Daniel Lendzian (Leontes), Todd Benzin (Polixenes), Annette Daniels Taylor (Paulina), Gabriella McKinley (Perdita), Jake Hayes (Florizel), and others.

As always, all performances of “The Winter’s Tale” are free and open to the public, upholding Shakespeare in Delaware Park’s mission of making theater accessible to everyone. Donations are gratefully accepted.
