The Village Juicery Stands Out

There’s nothing like boosting your spirits than taking a stroll down Elmwood on a sunny spring day, especially when the final destination is The Village Juicery. Until yesterday, I was not overly familiar with the offerings at this relatively new Elmwood Avenue business, but that all changed when I struck up a conversation with the owner, Jake Caprow, who opened the storefront in September of 2022.

Owner, Jake Caprow

One thing that I must say about The Village Juicery is that the space is brightly lit and inviting. With oversized windows and a number of seating arrangements (including a small streetside patio), it’s a convenient pitstop when looking for a quick bite to eat and drink, whether it’s for a bagel sandwich (featuring Logan’s Bagels), a 20 ounce smoothies, a 12 ounce pressed juice, or healthy smoothie-inspired bowls with loads of ingredients and toppings to choose from.

I would think that Elmwood Village residents would readily embrace this sort of new addition to the street. Personally, I plan on heading back for a Peanut Butter Delight Shake (peanut butter, protein powder, blueberries, almond milk) and a Nova Lox bagel sandwich (toasted everything bagel, cream cheese, lox, capers, red onion, lettuce, tomato, lemon zest). I was not aware that The Village Juicery carried so many delicious delights, including egg sandwiches and tuna melts. There are healthier options too, such as hummus bagel and homemade egg salad sandwiches. Or how about a margarita pizza flatbread, which Caprow rotates onto the menu as a special from time to time?

Anyone that is looking to fill up with smoothies and bagels can do so. For others, who might not be as hungry, there’s coffee (Olmsted Coffee Company) and grab and go items such as date balls, fruit cups, and chia pudding. There are also daily specials – avocado toast, Nutella toast, and Spring Salad, for instance.

The walls are adorned with rotating art by local artists. Currently on display are Mic Excel, and the works of Mark Freeland. In the photo, renovation work on a couple of neighboring houses is clearly underway, thankfully.

The Village Juicery is located inside the stupendous Whitesand Family LP development project that has added so much mojo to Elmwood Avenue. Caprow told me that he is ecstatic to be in the building, which is perfectly suited for his operation.

To me, The Village Juicery picks up where Ashker’s left off. I was very sad to see that business close, but it looks like Caprow has stepped in to fill the need. I will definitely plan more of my walks around this place, especially because it has so many different menu items that make me happy.
