Woman charged after pointing pellet gun at officers in Niagara Falls

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman is facing a charge after she allegedly pointed a pellet gun at officers in Niagara Falls on Sunday morning, police said Tuesday.

Police responded to the 1900 block of Niagara Street just after 9:40 a.m. Sunday to a report of a woman in the area displaying what appeared to be a handgun.

Officers arrived and identified the woman, holding what appeared to be a handgun. She allegedly then pointed the gun at an officer, who fired four shots at the woman. She was not hit. She then dropped the gun, which was found to be a CO2 pellet gun, and was taken into custody.

Niagara Falls police said the officer who fired the shots had his body camera on during the incident.

The woman was charged with second-degree menacing. Police said her identity will not be released at this time.

The incident is still under investigation.
