19-year-old incarcerated at Wyoming County Jail dies

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 19-year-old who was incarcerated at the Wyoming County Jail died on Tuesday, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 19-year-old was found unresponsive in his cell around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Jail personnel conducted life-saving measures and EMS was called, but the person was pronounced dead.

The name of the individual is not being released until all family notifications have been completed.

The death is still under investigation and was referred to the New York State Attorney General’s Office and the New York State Commission of Correction to be reviewed.
