19th Annual Female Musicians Fighting Breast Cancer Benefit

Ida Goeckel is a rockin’ Buffalo bass player. She’s also a two time breast cancer survivor, who is the prime driver behind the Female Musicians Fighting Breast Cancer Benefit, which she founded in 2003.

It was the expert care and guidance provided by the radiology staff at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Breast Care Clinic that inspired Ida to establish the benefit. Now, 19 years later, the event continues to inspire those who have been affected by breast cancer in some capacity. This year is especially important seeing that the event was cancelled in 2021 due to the pandemic.

On Sunday, October 30, a number of this region’s top female musicians will take to the stage in support of Roswell Park’s Resource Center (for women affected by breast or gynecological cancers). 100% of the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Resource Center – an institution that has become such an integral part of Ida’s life, as well as countless others who have found solace amidst their own unpredictable life journeys.

Approximately 250,000 women will be diagnosed and approximately 40,000 women die each year from breast cancer.

The line-up of bands and musicians is as follows:

Ladies First Jazz, featuring Donna Delano-KerrStonehouse, featuring a veteran to the mic, MaryLou SaurGrosh, featuring Grace Lougen and Megan BrownThe Diane Kallay Band

The event will occur on Sunday October 30th, 2022 at The Sportsmens Tavern at 326 Amherst St., Buffalo, N.Y.  Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. with four local music artists, generously donating their time to perform from 1:30-5:30.p.m.

Prizes generously donated by local merchants and individuals will be in a basket raffle throughout the show, and there will be at least one 50/50 split as well. Admission to witness all this talent under one roof is just $10.00 both pre-sale and at the door. There will be a cash bar and fine food served.

This fundraiser is sanctioned by the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and Team Roswell. Please be advised that this event will follow any state mandated COVID-19 precautions, and organizers ask that people be mindful that some attendees are immunosuppressed.
