2 Buffalo men, their uncle plead guilty to assault

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Three Buffalo men pleaded guilty to assault Tuesday afternoon in connection with a serious beating and stabbing that occurred last summer, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said on the morning of Aug. 20, 2023, two brothers and their uncle assaulted a victim on the 1500 block of Broadway in Buffalo.

Third man charged tied to alleged gang assault on Broadway

Amonti Atkins, 24, stabbed the victim in the face, according to officials. He and his brother, 28-year-old Amari Atkins, then proceeded to punch and kick the victim repeatedly even after he was rendered unconscious. Their uncle, 53-year-old Demetrius Gore, stomped on the victim’s face twice.

The victim, a 41-year-old male, is still recovering in a long-term care facility, officials said.

The brothers pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and first-degree gang assault. Gore pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

The Atkins brothers face a maximum of 25 years in prison while Gore faces a maximum of seven years in prison when they are sentenced in July.
