2023 Freelance Buffalo & Beyond

WNY’s flagship freelance event will be hosted from April 20-22

WNY freelancers will be happy to hear that Freelance Buffalo & Beyond is hosting a 3-day conference from April 20-22, 2023.

Freelancers throughout WNY are encouraged to sign up for the upcoming conference, where they will be able to learn more about the ever-changing freelance landscape, network with other freelancers, and further participate by attending lectures, workshops, and panel discussions.

This year’s theme is #freelanceisntfree in support of the Freelance Isn’t Free Act which NYS vetoed in December of 2022.

At the upcoming conference, attendees will also get a chance to learn about ongoing networking opportunities, monthly meetups, professional retreats, and a newly added awards gala in the fall season.

Freelance Buffalo & Beyond is volunteer run by freelancers for freelancers.

This year’s Freelance Buffalo & Beyond conference marks the event’s fifth year. For the second year in a row, Rochester freelancers will be included, with over 30 speakers partaking in lectures, workshops, and panel discussions in both cities.

Buffalo will be hosted at the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus with a closing event at Convergence Coworking on Earth Day, April 22

Rochester will be hosted at Serendipity Labs in Innovation Square and a Thursday panel discussion and happy hour at The Maker’s Studio

Topics for the 2023 Freelance Buffalo conference include Freelancing 101, Client Horror Stories/Red Flags, Social Media/Marketing, Project Management, and Legislative Updates.

Freelance Buffalo & Beyond has hosted 1,000+ freelancers from the WNY area to date.

The Freelance Buffalo and Beyond team includes Marie Rachelle, Stephanie Kennedy, Madison Bracaglia, and CaTyra Polland.

“Freelancers Union applauds Freelance Buffalo and Beyond on their fifth year of bringing freelancers together, providing resources, and advocating for a society that respects and acknowledges their needs. I’m proud to attend this year’s conference to talk about the need for statewide payment protections to ensure freelancers are being paid for the work they complete. Looking forward to joining Marie and her team for a fruitful and productive conference in Buffalo.” – Rafael Espinal, CEO, of Freelancers Union

This three-day, in-person event will be accompanied by a kick-off happy hour, in-session luncheons, and a closing celebratory event in honor of Earth Day with Papercraft Miracles making “seed bombs” for participants to take home with them.
