A Total Constellation of Buffalo’s Must-Attend Events, April 1-15: Including select Solar Eclipse events!

Buffalonians, we are sure you have heard that a once-in-a-lifetime event occurs in our city on April 8th. As you know, we are in the direct line to witness the awe-inspiring total solar eclipse, where day turns to night for a few unforgettable minutes. To help you find the perfect spot, this event guide features some of the places you can go to see the eclipse.  

And, for those more interested in events beyond the solar system, we have included a retro arcade, a concert of one of the last voices of the 1960’s, a burlesque show, the BPO, and the best Drag Dinner to ever come to the Queen City.  Oh… and Happy Dyngus Day from Buffalo Rising.  

Event: Orion’s Landing

Orion’s Landing is the place for gamers.  They offer a classic arcade experience alongside their state of the art VR attractions. For just  $12.50, you can enjoy 2.5 hours of unlimited play on a variety of retro arcade cabinets, rec room games, consoles, and even oversized yard games. (please note: VR is not included and requires and additional fee)

The total solar eclipse inspires this concert, conducted by Buffalo’s own JoAnn Falletta!  Featuring flutist Marina Piccinini and The Women’s Choir of Buffalo, the program features Holst’s “The Planets,” and contemporary works Nina Shekhar’s “Lumina,” and Christopher Theofanidis’ “The Universe in Ecstatic Motion.”

The Buffalo Zoo is hosting a special event to watch the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8th, 2024. Experience this historic moment surrounded by the animals of the zoo. Free eclipse glasses are available (limited supply) and there will be educational activities throughout the day.

Catch the total solar eclipse at Hofbräuhaus Buffalo’s watch party! Enjoy live music, food and drink specials, and eclipse merch while you witness the phenomenon in their Biergarten.

Come to the Richardson Olmsted Campus for the eclipse. The event is completely free and there will be food trucks, drinks, vendors, and more to keep you entertained. 

Event: Total Eclipse Burlesque Show 

Buffalo Iron Works

While the denizens of Buffalo will be looking at the sun during the eclipse, the lucky folks who go to Ironworks on the 8th have a chance to see a full moon. The Velvet Stardust Rock Show features a live rock & roll band and burlesque show that will leave you starstruck.  

Event: An Afternoon with Judy Collins

The Riviera Theatre
67 Webster Street, North Tonawanda, NY

Collins, a folk mainstay since 1961, will be performing at the Riviera.  Her voice, still strong and pure, is the voice of a generation.  This afternoon show will feature a huge range of beloved songs and new compositions culled from her six-decade career.

Rochester Drag Royalty, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Darienne Lake (both of RPDR Fame), Aggy Dune, and Ambrosia Salad bring their drag show to the Queen City.  Salvatore’s is the perfect venue for this quartet, and the ticket includes appetizer display, 3-course meal, one drink ticket to the cash bar, and a fabulous show.
