Alleged drunk driver crashes into Wheatfield home, causing significant damage

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An alleged drunk driver crashed into a Wheatfield home early Saturday morning, causing significant structural damage to the residence, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies said a full-size pickup truck was traveling northbound on Graydon Drive around 2:15 a.m. at a high rate of speed when it allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign and continued northbound, crashing into the house. A building inspector later determined the home is currently inhabitable due to the crash.

The two occupants of the pickup truck had to be extricated from the vehicle and were treated for minor injuries, while the homeowner was located inside the residence unharmed, according to deputies.

After deputies conducted field sobriety tests, the alleged driver of the pickup truck, 21-year-old John Osetkowski of North Tonawanda, was consequently charged with:

Driving while intoxicated – first offense

Reckless driving

Second-degree reckless endangerment

Fourth-degree criminal mischief

Numerous vehicle and traffic law citations

Osetkowski was later transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
