BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arrested after he allegedly attacked and sexually abused a woman late Sunday night in Shoshone Park, the Buffalo Police Department announced.

Police said 34-year-old Lamont Love allegedly punched a woman and slammed her to the ground, causing cuts, pain and swelling before subjecting the victim to sexual contact without her consent.

It is alleged the woman was able to fight off Love and flee the area, eventually calling police from a safe space, according to police.

Love was charged with one count each of first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. He was arraigned Monday and will return to court for a felony hearing on Friday, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to News 4.

This is the second alleged sexual assault to take place in the area of Shoshone Park in the last few months, as a rape allegedly took place on Dec. 9 in the 1900 block of Hertel Avenue.
