Buffalo man pleads guilty to rape charge

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to a first degree rape charge on Thursday, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

On the night of Dec. 8, 2023 28-year-old Rickey D. Roberts allegedly approached another person in the City of Buffalo before claiming he had a gun, officials said. He allegedly forced sexual intercourse on the victim, threatening physical harm, according to officials.

The victim, according to officials, was able to seek help from Good Samaritans after the alleged assault.

He faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing, and was held without bail. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

Roberts is scheduled for sentencing on April 19.
