Buffalo Waterfront’s 2024 Summer Season Lineup for Canalside & Outer Harbor

The 2024 summer event season for Canalside and the Outer Harbor will showcase over 100 events and programs, including a lineup of live music that features acts such as Chappell Roan (sold out show), Counting Crows, Primus, and moe.

“We have some great opportunities for Western New Yorkers and visitors to come out and enjoy our city’s beautiful waterfront this summer,” said Lauren Ford, general manager, Buffalo Waterfront. “We’re looking forward to an exciting concert lineup at the brand-new Terminal B venue, as well as new food and beverage options at Canalside and returning fitness classes and family programming.”

Along with plenty of seasonal seafaring opportunities, guests to the Canalside will also find:

A new ‘Resurgence at Canalside’ at the former Clinton’s Dish

Nick Charlap’s Ice Cream open at the former Clinton’s Dish

An ice cream kiosk along the boardwalk

The Buffalo Heritage Carousel will be open for $1 rides

*The weekends of May 10-12 and May 17-19 will mark “soft” openings for Canalside, with regular hours of operation beginning Friday, May 24 (through Labor Day weekend). Buffalo Boat Tours, BFLO Harbor Kayak, Water Bikes of Buffalo, Canalside Caricatures and Buffalo Bike Tours all reopen Memorial Day weekend. 

Other returning events & updates:

The replica Erie Canal packet boat, the Seneca Chief, will have its official inauguration on May 25 at 11 a.m. The Canalside Longshed will undergo renovations for the new “Waterway of Change” visitors experience, which will debut next spring and mark the beginning of the Erie Canal’s Bicentennial Commemoration in 2025.

The Beach at Canalside, beside the Carousel, will feature a fleet of wooden sandbox boats, courtesy of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Plus, the Great Lawn and the Boardwalk will now host permanent games, including corn hole, shuffleboard, and chess/checkers/backgammon game tables.

Family FriYay! returns Friday, June 28, featuring Free Play Friday with Explore & More Children’s Museum and a kids activity zone sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Family FriYay! will run weekly from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the summer.

EPIC’s annual summer literacy program on the Pierce Lawn at Canalside will also return on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning in early June.

Touch a Truck by Explore & More (July 28), The Pride Festival (June 2), the Asian Food & Culture Festival (Aug. 11) and Festival of India (Aug. 17), all return to Canalside this year, along with the first-ever Canalside Children’s Book Fest on June 29.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will also once again sponsor specialty fitness classes at Canalside, including Zumba, yoga and salsa classes.

The Seneca Casinos Outer Harbor Concert Series kicks off May 24 with Chappell Roan (sold-out show) at the new Terminal B at the Outer Harbor.

Plus, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will return to the Outer Harbor for two free shows – the BPO & The Magical Music on Harry Potter on July 19 and the BPO featuring The Strictly Hip on Aug. 1. Terminal B

Fitness in the Parks, sponsored by Independent Health, temporarily moves from Wilkeson Pointe (currently under construction) to Terminal B and kicks off June 3.

In addition to concerts and fitness classes, Terminal B will serve as the new host venue for several special events. On July 21, GObike’s annual SkyRide, presented by Independent Health, returns, followed by the Buffalo Irish Festival July 26-28.
