Crash closes part of Porter Road for much of Thursday

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A pickup truck driver crashed into a pole in the Town of Niagara after falling asleep at the wheel Thursday morning, authorities told News 4.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. on Porter Road, causing wires to fall on the road. As a result, Porter has been shut down for most of the day between Recovery Road and Young Street.

“There’s power really close to the vehicle,” Town of Niagara Police Chief Craig Giuliani said. “Thankfully, it was not touching the vehicle when he exited.”

The driver, who was identified as a man in his 30s, suffered broken bones but is expected to survive.
