Discover, Learn, and Play: A Season of Adventure Awaits at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village

Nestled on 35 acres of verdant landscape, Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village (BNHV) boasts more than 20 historic buildings transported from various locations across Western New York. Their spring activities are just around the corner and include interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

Dedicated to illuminating the region’s rich history and heritage, particularly in agriculture and related endeavors, the museum serves as a beacon for community education. Through its diverse exhibits and programs, BNHV chronicles the cultural history of the area, from its earliest Native American inhabitants to its bustling industrial era and beyond. Perfect for families to go and spend the day, or for folks just looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, BNHV is a fantastic place to visit this spring.

One of BNHV’s highlights is The Maple Festival. The celebration begins on March 9, with their Introduction to Backyard Maple Sugaring, where participants will learn how to transform sap from the sugar maple tree into syrup, a practice honed by humans over centuries. This behind-the-scenes exploration will show the skills needed to replicate this process in your own home.

On March 23, BNHV hosts their Maple Festival Breakfasts where you can explore the Maple History Trail to learn about maple syrup production, participate in tree tapping, witness the process from sap to syrup, and enjoy tasting various maple flavors and experiencing Sugar on Snow. There is an early and late seating for this event, so participants can choose which time works best for them.

On April 12, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, BNHV invites guests to an entertaining evening delving into New York State’s intriguing history with their News and Brews evening! Their host will guide attendees through historical stories, who will test their knowledge by answering  trivia questions. This is sure to be a night filled with education, laughter, amusement.

Returning this summer are BNHV’s summer day camps. Alternating STEAM and Pioneer themed weeks, these camps will get your young people out of the house, and into the beautiful WNY summer.  With a diverse range of engaging activities and educational opportunities, campers will explore history, nature, and creativity while making lasting memories. From hands-on historical experiences to outdoor exploration, there’s something for every young explorer at BNHV’s summer camps.

From maple syrup demonstrations, trivia nights, and summer camps, BNHV offers so many fun ways to enjoy this season.  Check out the list of events below.
