Fire on Transit Road causes $100,000 in damage

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire on Transit Road in Swormville Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a barn, according to the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office.

Just before 12:30 p.m. on May 30, a fire was reported at a barn on 6995 Transit Road that housed multiple businesses. The Swormville fire chief arrived and reported heavy smoke coming from the building.

The fire was found in an area of the building that was being renovated. It took approximately 45 minutes to bring under control and damage to the structure was estimated at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
