BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Federal prosecutors have charged a Florida man after they say he flew to Western New York to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
21-year-old Jose Tehovnik has been accused of enticement of a minor, as well as production, receipt and possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
According to officials Tehovnik allegedly started communicating with a girl in Western New York on Instagram in February. The conversation then moved to Snapchat, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

“During these conversations, Tehovnik and the victim exchanged naked images, which included child pornography of the victim, and Tehovnik made plans to travel to the Western District of New York,” a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
Prosecutors said Tehovnik allegedly flew from Florida to New York in April to engage in sexual activity with the girl.
Officials said he came back to New York on Tuesday June 4, picked her up and traveled to New Jersey, where prosecutors said members of law enforcement found the two together. Tehovnik was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
The FBI and the Niagara Falls Police Department have been investigating the matter.
Tehovnik faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 5 years in prison and a maximum of life.
