A decade ago, you would be hard-pressed to find a decent Mexican restaurant in Buffalo. These days, there seems to be one on just about every corner. And that’s the primary reason that Downtown’s Hombre y Lobo Tacos and Tequila and Buffalo Iron Works are planning a new street festival on Sunday, August 4, which will feature food offerings from over 10 local Mexican restaurants.
Included in the ticket price, festival-goers will get unlimited tacos (while supplies last), live DJs, a celebrity chef, salsa dancing lessons, food demonstrations, among other novelties. While this is not an official competition, per se, there will be some friendly face-offs in the form of a “Top Taco Contest,” with a “Best Taco Award.”
“This event will not only be a blast to attend, we’re incredibly excited to be producing something alongside Buffalo Iron Works,” said Isaac Domingue, Co-Owner of Hombre y Lobo Tacos and Tequila. “Our goal is to create a recurring event that embodies the spirit of Buffalo by uniting our Mexican restaurant community and promoting them as well. We hope that the festival allows business owners to grow their support network, see what other restaurants are doing, and also make some new friends. You’ll find that even though we all make tacos, every single one will be unique to the other, and that’s what makes us special. Each restaurant will be making their ‘best’ taco and attendees will get to try them all. The restaurants will also be competing for the festival’s ‘Top Taco Award.’ Who doesn’t love a little healthy competition to connect the community?!”
The time has finally come, for local Mexican food lovers to attend a new WNY-centric taco and tequila festival, with plenty of margs, música y verano mágico.
