Jacquie Walker Day: Officials, organizations honor News 4 legend

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — In recognition of the legendary Jacquie Walker’s final show on the anchor desk at News 4 WIVB on Wednesday, various government officials and other organizations honored her with different gestures.

During a celebration in the News 4 studio, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown declared May 22, 2024 as Jacquie Walker Day in the City of Buffalo, praising Walker for her over 40 years of dedication to her craft.

Additionally, Gov. Kathy Hochul acknowledged Walker’s contributions with a framed proclamation and a video message, in which she thanked Walker for her coverage and called her a “legend.”

The Buffalo Bills also honored Walker on Wednesday, gifting her a No. 40 jersey to recognize her over four decades at News 4. Rep. Nick Langworthy also honored Jacquie on the floor of the House of Representatives Wednesday morning.
