Man accused of stealing McDonald’s cash register, fleeing onto I-190 arrested

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly stole a McDonald’s cash register and fled on foot toward I-190, Buffalo police officials said.

Police said the man allegedly made off with the cash register from the fast food restaurant on the 2100 block of Niagara Street around 9 a.m. He was apprehended a short time later “on or near the 190,” according to police.

The suspect is currently in custody, but no charges have been announced at this time.

The incident caused all lanes of I-190 northbound at Exit 13 (Austin Street) to be closed for a short time around 9:30 a.m. The stretch of thruway reopened about 15 minutes later.
