Man arraigned on assault charge stemming from fight, victim later died

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has been arraigned on an assault charge stemming from a fight where the victim later died, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

It is alleged that 22-year-old Craig Lynch, Jr. got in a fight with a 32-year-old man on the 100 block of Minnesota Avenue on the evening of March 25.

Lynch, Jr. was arrested on second-degree assault. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old was transported to a hospital for head and face injuries, where he later died.

Lynch, Jr. is being held without bail as the investigation into potential homicide-related charges continues. If convicted of the assault charge, he faces up to seven years in prison.

He returns to court on Monday.
