Man indicted in connection to fatal Del Denby shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has been indicted in connection to a fatal shooting at Del Denby Tavern on Hertel Avenue last month, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

27-year-old William Quinones is accused of shooting and killing 46-year-old Madjid Elbert outside of Del Denby around 1:15 a.m. on May 7 during a fight on the patio outside of the bar. Elbert was pronounced dead at ECMC.

Del Denby was closed by Buffalo police within 24 hours of the shooting, but the bar reopened about three weeks later.

Quinones was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted of the highest charge, he faces 25 years to life in prison.

He will return to court on July 12.
