More Tesla layoffs coming to South Park Avenue in August

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — According to a WARN notice posted on New York State’s Department of Labor website, more than two dozen other Buffalo Tesla employees will be out of a job starting Aug. 11.

The notice, which impacts 27 more employees, was posted on Tuesday.

This follows four other WARN notices posted within the last month. Like the other notices, the reason for the layoffs was cited as “economic.”

According to an April report from The Associated Press, Tesla is planning to get rid of ten percent of its workforce after poor quarterly sales.

In all, the Texas-based company employs more than 140,000 people, more than 2,000 of whom work on South Park Avenue. None of the 340-plus being laid off locally are represented by a union.

In February, a complaint against Tesla was filed by the National Labor Relations Board. They were accused of unlawfully restricting technology use.
