M&T Bank launches rotating in-branch Spotlight Shop for small businesses

Being the owner of a small business is rewarding, but it is also dauniting. That’s because sales can be unpredictable. Therefore, small business owners must be creative. The internet has become a handy tool, there is no doubt. Whether utilizing sales platforms such as etsy, or uploading images to Instagram, there are ways to garner new customers and sales.

The internet is one thing. Reaching customers in the real world is another – especially if there is no brick and mortar location. That’s where M&T Bank comes in.

Over the last 25 years, small businesses have generated about two-thirds of all jobs added to the national economy, according to M&T Bank.

M&T Bank has launched a new Spotlight Shop at its location in Kenmore, where a number of small businesses are now able to access a pop-up shop at the branch location. The bank is rotating a line-up of small businesses through the Spotlight Shop, starting with Buffalo Gals by White Rabbit Designs. This unique partnership between the bank and small business owners is a creative way to demonstrate that teamwork makes the dream work.

The Spotlight Shop provides a new opportunity for local entrepreneurs to showcase their brands, reach different audiences, and expand their customer base.

The launch of M&T’s in-branch Spotlight Shop coincides with National Small Business Week. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, which is why it’s so important to support them.

Buffalo Gals will be in the Spotlight Shop through May 5. In the weeks ahead, the Spotlight Shop will feature Skincare Essentials by Jill (May 15-19), The Sweet Whisk (May 22-26), and DiCamillo’s Bakery (June 12-23).

Along with the in-branch pop-ups, M&T Bank has added a virtual Spotlight Shop element to the mix, to direct more potential customers to the websites of small businesses.

Hopefully M&T Bank will incorporate the Spotlight Shop concept into more of its branches, as it is a novel idea that should prove to be effective.
