Navigate Through Route 666 Into This Year’s Mural Installation at the Witches Ball

Shift into overdrive down the Highway to Hell and get ready for a night of spooktacular festivities at this year’s Witches Ball, taking place at The Statler on Saturday, October 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. We are excited to feature Buffalo’s best immersive halloween experience including this year’s mural installation presented by Spicy Creative.

Navigate through Route 666 into the Golden Ballroom and experience original works of art created by this year’s participating artists: Kelly Kresconko, Avanna Duff, Laike Palermo and Eugene Sims. Guests are encouraged to interact with the art installation by taking a selfie with their favorite artwork and tagging the featured artist. Spicy, a branding and digital ad agency founded by Jeffrey Heras and Joe Babcock, collaborated with local artists to conceptualize and create an art experience that is quickly becoming a favorite among Witches Ball party-goers.

“The artists are eager to share their work in an unconventional context beyond the white walls of a gallery and this installation gives them a chance to do just that,” said Babcock.

“With over 2,000+ attendees, we hope the Witches Ball introduces the artists to new fans and commercial opportunities. We’re in awe of the combined talent of these four artists and we know you will be too.”

Buffalo isn’t short of talent when it comes to the arts, so we invite you to get to know this year’s featured artists and get ready to Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop).

Avanna Duff – @parahmohr

As a transplant from Atlanta, Ga., Avanna Duff’s paintings function as a reflection of herself and her experiences as a young Black female artist. Through vivid colors and various brush strokes, she explores the intersection of emotion and experience—where happiness, sadness, joy, distrust, anticipation, anger and fear live. Duff is currently pursuing her education at Villa Maria college with a focus of Digital filmmaking and plans on widening her stance in both art and film. A selection of her work can be seen at the C. Stuart and Jane H. Hunt Art Gallery, where she is currently a resident artist.

Laike Palermo – @laike-palermo

Originally from Oswego, NY Laike Palermo moved to Buffalo to pursue a BFA in painting from Daemen University. Her process in painting human figures and portraits have led Palermo to nurture her own identity and create works that speak to her struggles with depression, anxiety and self doubt. She often uses herself as a model to depict sexually demure poses that speak to the objectification of women’s bodies in media and society. Palermo hopes that her work will empower other women to renew their sense of self and encourage them to love themselves as they are.

Eugene Sims – @eugenesims

As a self taught artist, Eugene Sims started his art career with a focus on portraiture and figurative work. He considers the aspect of vulnerability to be an essential component to his visual storytelling. His paintings are meant to provoke emotions of nostalgia, discomfort or self reflection. Sims joined the C. Stuart and Jane H. Hunt Art Gallery as a resident artist where he can be found exploring his artistic narrative. As an emerging artist, Sims hopes to further ingrain himself within Buffalo’s creative community and add to the city’s artistic richness.

Kelly Kresconko – @kellykresconkoart

Visual Artist Kelly Kresconko is back for this year’s mural installation with two new works that combine subtle elements of the macabre and natural beauty. She recently launched her online boutique of “luxury goth” items for those interested in comfort and dark beauty. At this year’s Witches Ball, you will have the opportunity to purchase goods from Kresconko’s luxe goth brand. Can’t wait till the event? No worries, click here to check out her online shop

“We are excited to once again be partnering with Local Matters and Buffalo Rising to bring attention to some awesome emerging talent here in Buffalo,” said Heras. “What excites us as a marketing agency is the opportunity to work with local artists. That fuels us and inspires our creativity when working with clients to make their brands a little more Spicy.”

Additionally, DJ Nicholas Picholas will be on location to get the Golden Ballroom bouncing with banging tunes and squealing guitar solos all night long. Guests will also be treated to appearances by the gorgeous and hypnotic queens and king in Dragged Out with Jayme Coxx.feat. Fishnell Twain, Christian Gaye, and Summer Slayer. Braidbabes will also be on hand to help glam up your look. Check out their braidbar services from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Hell awaits! Get your tickets today and let’s get, let’s get, let’s get rocked!
