Needle Felting, Gardening, Trivia Nights & More: Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village Announces Summer Events

The Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village (BNHV) is getting ready for summer, and is offering some incredible events this June, including a needle felting workshop, a natural dye workshop, a youth gardening workshop, and another evening in their News & Brews Series.

The BNHV’s museum’s mission is to educate the community about the region’s history and heritage with a focus on agriculture and everything that goes along with it. BNHV hosts a variety of exhibits and programs that showcase the region’s cultural heritage, from its early Native American inhabitants to its industrial heyday and beyond.

Set on 35 acres of lush greenery, BNHV features over 20 historic buildings that have been relocated from across Western New York. Although regular hours have been suspended because of BNHV’s relocation to Amherst Central Park, visitors can still visit the site for the following workshops.

First, is the Needle Felting Workshop.  In this crafty afternoon, participants will learn the basics of needle felting and create their own sheep to take home. The workshop will take place on Saturday, June 8th, from 11 am to 1 pm, and costs $30 for BNHV members and $35 for non-members. Please note that minors must be accompanied by an adult.

On June 14, BNHV will offer News & Brews: Niagara Falls Daredevil Trivia. During this interactive evening, guests will explore the intriguing history of the Falls, and answer trivia questions to predict the next twist in a story from History. The event is hosted by an expert guide and promises fun and laughter, making it a perfect evening for teams of two to ten people. Secure a spot by purchasing tickets online, as space is limited and tickets may not be available at the door. The price is $10 for BNHV members and $12 for non-members and includes one beverage and a bag of popcorn. Please note, this is a 21+ event due to alcohol being served.

Created for youth ages 4-12, The Adventure Academy: Gardening helps youngsters learn all about the vegetables needed for a pizza. This interactive workshop will introduce folks to gardening by planting tomatoes, wheat, and garlic to create a pizza garden. The session will also include painting “bug rocks” to attract beneficial insects to the garden. The Adventure Academy: Gardening will take place on Saturday, June 15th, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am, at a cost of $8 for youth and $10 for adults.

Finally, in this series of events is The Natural Dying Workshop.  Participants will learn about the history of natural dyes and will have the opportunity to experiment with several different types. The event will take place on Saturday, June 29th, from 11 am to 1 pm. The cost is $30 for BNHV members and $35 for non-members.
