BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls man will face a charge of driving while intoxicated and additional charges for an alleged two-vehicle rollover crash with entrapment that occurred Sunday afternoon, the Niagara Falls Mayor’s Office said.
Around 2:08 p.m. on Sunday, a 45-year-old man was traveling northeast on Highland Avenue in a Jeep when he allegedly passed a stop sign and struck a Hyundai. The Hyundai had the right of way and was traveling southeast on Hyde Park Boulevard, officials said.
The Hyundai allegedly hit the curb and turned over, entrapping a 55-year-old female driver, the mayor’s office said.
Motorists witnessed the crash and stopped to call for help. Officials said the Niagara Falls Fire Department responded and freed the woman from her vehicle.
She was taken to ECMC for treatment of eye and head injuries and is in serious but stable condition.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where he was evaluated and released.
He will face a charge of driving while intoxicated and additional charges as the investigation continues, the mayor’s office said.
