Officer hospitalized after police vehicle-involved crash in Lewiston

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A police officer was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a crash involving a patrol vehicle on Military Road in Lewiston, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to News 4 WIVB.

The crash happened around 6 a.m., and a News 4 WIVB crew on the scene reported that a Lewiston police vehicle suffered significant front-end damage. A tractor-trailer was also pulled over nearby.

Officials said the officer was taken to ECMC, and Lewiston police officials were still on the scene as of 8:30 a.m.

Military Road between Saunders Settlement Road and Upper Mountain Road has been closed for close to three hours and remains blocked off as of 8:30 a.m., as does the I-190 north ramp to Exit 25A.

News 4 WIVB reached out to police for more information and has not yet heard back.
