‘Over the Edge’ – Rappel Down Seneca One Tower

We’ve seen sledders sled down an exitway of The Skyway. We’ve watched sunners race to the top of Seneca One Tower. We’ve witnessed cyclists ride their bikes over The Skyway. Now, The Arc Erie County New York – a not-for-profit organization that supports children and adults with disabilities and their families – is inviting adventurers to rappel down Seneca One Tower.

The event, called Over the Edge, aims to raise $100,000 to support a number of The Arc’s vocational, clinical, educational, residential, and habilitative services.

Currently, The Arc is inviting interested participants – 44 thrill-seekers total – to sign up for the event. Each participant will be required to raise at least $2000 before they can rappel down the 529 foot face of the tower.

“We could not be more thrilled to participate in this fundraiser and to bring this larger-than-life event to one of the most exciting new buildings in Buffalo, helping spread awareness as far as we can to show our community and beyond how they can support our important mission,” said Doug DiGesare, CEO, The Arc Erie County New York. “The Arc Erie County has been dedicated to supporting people with developmental disabilities for more than 70 years, and it’s through the help of fundraisers like ‘Over the Edge for The Arc Erie County’ that we’re able to help the individuals we serve reach their full potential and experience incredible accomplishments.”

The fundraising event on Wednesday, June 14 will include an all-day “Party in the Plaza” celebration from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring music, food trucks, and special guest appearances by the Buffalo Bandettes.

Registration to sign up as a fundraiser is currently open, with rappelling slots still available. For more information, or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, visit
