Registration is now open for PUSH Buffalo’s Fall Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Training & Career Development Program

Participants will earn certifications needed in the construction industry while being exposed to the growing green and sustainability sector. Upon completion of the 2.5-week program participants will receive 2 Certifications: OSHA 10 & HAZWOPER 40, a stipend for their time and one-on-one interviews with employers in the construction field. Additional modules on leadership development, sustainable & renewable energy related to the concerns for environmental conservation and improved health of the environment. 

Falling in line with PUSH Buffalo’s mission statement of, “mobilizing residents to create strong neighborhoods with quality, affordable housing; expanding local hiring opportunities; and advancing racial, economic, and environmental justice in Buffalo,” this training program equips residents with interviewing skills, soft skills, communication, team building skills, and leadership skills. PUSH does much more than provide sustainable housing, but it also acts as a wraparound service by supporting members of our community in more ways than just one. 

Workforce and Training Manager Tim McCarthy shares, 

“When it comes to putting people into new jobs or putting people into a different direction, that entails the whole premise of what PUSH represents- being involved in the community and being a resource so that people can not only have a clean and healthy place to live but also the opportunity of taking work and a career.”

This Career Development Program is happening on Sept. 12th – 28th, and runs Monday through Friday 9am until 5pm. Through this, earn 2 certifications, attend employer job fairs all while learning about opportunities in sustainability. Stipend paid upon completion.
