BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A sex offender who was on parole for a murder charge in 1980 pleaded guilty to approaching juveniles at a motel in Clarence last year, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Officials said John Dziedzic, 72, admitted to charges related to approaching two juveniles at a motel on Main Street in Clarence on Oct. 9, 2023, offering them marijuana to come to his room. New York State Police at the time said that two teens, ages 16 and 14, did enter the room.
It was found that Dziedzic had failed to register as a sex offender by not updating his address on a form issued by the state.
Police said last October that at the time of the arrest, Dziedzic was on parole for second-degree murder and was on the sex offender registry for a rape and kidnapping arrest in 1976.
On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to one count of failure to register and/or verify as a sex offender and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He faces up to four years in prison when he is sentenced on June 4. He is being held without bail.
