‘Shop Allen Street’ Block Club: A New Chapter in Economic Growth and Cultural Celebration in Allentown

Business owners in Allentown have come together to form a new organization called The ‘Shop Allen Street’ block club. The purpose of this initiative is to empower the business community in a more united capacity. The ultimate goal is to step up efforts when it comes to fostering and furthering economic development.

The empowering ‘Shop Allen Street’ block club has established foundational goals that include:

Support for Member Businesses & Economic Development: Crafting opportunities for local businesses to prosper.

Marketing and Promotional Activities: Reinforcing Allentown’s distinct charm and diverse offerings as a premier destination.

Community Engagement & Partnership Development: Building meaningful connections within Allentown and beyond.

Beautification and Safety Enhancements: Committing to both the aesthetic appeal and safety of the Allen Street area.

Of course, one of the best ways to attract shoppers and customers to the street is through event creation. Allentown has always been home to signature events, including the following pending dates:

First Fridays “Gallery & Shop Hop” (May 3rd): The business community of Allentown infuses a jolt of community energy into a fresh take on the neighborhood’s contribution to Buffalo’s First Friday art scene, creating a unified art and shopping experience that visitors won’t soon forget as they explore the rich tapestry of galleries and shops along Allen Street.

“Allen Street Second Saturdays Block Party”: Starting on May 11th, an eclectic shopping experience that celebrates the area’s diversity and creativity.

Pride Weekend Programming (June 1st): Celebrating the welcoming and inclusive spirit down the full length of Allen Street – small business programming will work in tandem with, and spread beyond, the already established & acclaimed “Intersect: A Queer Arts Festival” that takes place that day centered at the amazing “26” on Allen Street between Main and Franklin (see Facebook event page).

June 7th’s First Friday “Gallery & Shop Hop”: Continuing the First Friday tradition with a special emphasis on Juneteenth, celebrating cultural heritage and diversity.

Not only is it of utmost importance to host signature events, the organization is also in place to help implement stepped-up beautification and safety measures. By coming together as a united faction, the Allentown business owners are taking control of their own destiny.
