Sing Along, Bid High, Be Surprised: Join The Unpredictable Fun of 2nd Gen’s Broadway Bucket List

On May 19, Broadway Bucket List, Buffalo’s highly anticipated one-night-only concert event is back, and it promises to be an evening to remember! Experience the ultimate musical journey as eight of 2nd Generation Theatre Company’s (2nd Gen) cherished performers take the stage to sing their hearts out, regardless of whether the song is a perfect fit for them or not.

“When we do a fundraiser, we want it to reflect us as a company, so a performance like this is ideal,” shared Artistic Director Kelly Copps.

We chose Broadway Bucket List to give our performers the freedom to sing whatever they want to. They have a blast with selections and that guarantees that the audience will have a great time, too!”

Executive Director Kristin Bentley shared, “Broadway Bucket List has been a culmination of different iterations of this concert style fundraiser we have had in place for several years. This format allows the performers to sing their dream role, whether they are the correct ‘type’ for it or not. As a result of this freedom, performers really knock it out of the park and audiences have been thrilled with the results.”

Tickets for the event grant access to the show and include light appetizers. Additionally, guests can participate in raffles and silent auctions, with the opportunity to win prizes while enjoying beverages from the cash bar at Shea’s Bistro.

“This event is always full of surprises – some that we plan and some that are created in the magic of the evening. Audiences are always so impressed with the depth of talent we have in our local community,” said Bentley.  “This year, Joe Russi (seen recently with 2nd Gen in Tick Tick Boom, Secret Garden and Cabaret) is flying back to Buffalo just for the event, so some will be surprised to see him,” shared Copps, adding “My personal favorite part of last year’s fundraiser was when Amy Jakiel announced she was bringing a literal bucket onstage with song selections. She encouraged the audience to bid on a song from the bucket, and ended up with the entire cast on stage, at the spur of the moment. It was the highlight of the night!”

Audiences have grown to love the event, with many of 2nd Gen’s loyal fan base anticipating the setlist. However, newcomers and Broadway lovers are encouraged to attend, with Copps promising, “They will have had a truly enjoyable and one of a kind evening. 2nd Gen loves selecting some of our favorite performers and we intentionally mix it up every year because there are just so many phenomenally talented artists we work with. Hopefully, audiences will leave with some new faces to watch next season.”

The 2024 edition of Broadway Bucket List features Amy Jakiel, Lily Jones, Stevie Kemp, Nick Lama, Austin Marshall, Ricky Needham, Michele Marie Roberts and Joe Russi with Joe Isgar on piano. The one-night-only event is on May 19, 2024. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the concert is at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $50 and are available here.
