BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Another tentative agreement has been reached between Tops and Teamsters Local 264 after a strike began this past Friday.
The union made the announcement Sunday afternoon, saying the new deal provides employees with “financial security and protection of benefits without any concessions.”
On Monday morning, Local 264 plans to hold an informational meeting on the new deal, with a ratification vote to follow.
“I want to emphasize that this agreement has the full recommendation of our bargaining committee, who have worked tirelessly to secure the best possible outcome for our members,” Local 264 President Brian Dickman said.
The employees’ previous contract, which covered approximately 550 workers in maintenance, sanitation, warehouse and transportation, expired May 31. Earlier that month, workers voted overwhelmingly in favor of authorizing a strike.
In Sunday afternoon’s announcement, Dickman said he anticipates union members returning to work soon.
