Unwrap the Magic of the Season: A Guide to Buffalo’s Enchanting Holiday Events

Here we are at the end of December! Hopefully, you have been able to get out in our amazing city, and take advantage of some of the incredible holiday happenings in Buffalo.

If you are looking to mix up some of your Holiday traditions, here is a list of events for the end of December.  Some are for adults only (Painting with a Twist, Sandy Claus: Out of the Claus-et), and others are perfect for the whole family (Annie and Wild Winter Nights at the Zoo). And if you still need to visit Santa, the Santa Claus Christmas Cottage in Lockport is open until the 23rd.  

We will be back with a New Years Eve event roundup. Speaking of, a ticket to our New Year’s Eve event, Spies and Villains Affair at the Terrace in Delaware Park would make an incredible gift.  It is an unforgettable night and the perfect way to ring in the New Year.

“The sun will come out tomorrow” at Shea’s this holiday season.  Little orphan Annie and her dog Sandy take a walk on “Easy Street” after living “The Hard Knock Life.”  Play your cards right, and like Miss Hannigan, you will see these “Little Girls” on Main Street this December.   

Event: Open Class – Shake it up (Customize your Snow Crew)

Painting with a Twist

Paint a whimsical snow globe, and customize it with as many snow people as you like. This guided class is BYOB, so bring your wassail and your artistic spirit.   

Event: Wild Winter Nights

Buffalo Zoo

The zoo has extended its hours for the season. See the animals and stay for the holiday cheer! Stroll the Zoo’s holiday decorations, catch a ride on the Happy Holidays Express Train, and indulge in warm winter treats including a hot cocoa bar and s’mores.

Event: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The holiday film comes to the big screen at The North Park. Put on an ugly sweater, and laugh your way into the weekend.

Still open for last minute gifts! Make a list, and check it twice at the Buffalo Holiday Market.  There is a gift for everyone at this charming, outdoor shopping experience.  Rent an igloo for an extra fun afternoon! Food and drink are also available for purchase.

This delightful afternoon of festive family entertainment showcases holiday music performed by Bruce Woody, three brief Christmas silent films, a sing-along of Christmas carols, and a selection of timeless Merry Medley Christmas cartoons. Donations will be warmly welcomed during the show.

Born in Buffalo, NY, comedian Kristen Becker is a 20 year veteran of stand up and sketch comedy.  In this irreverent holiday show, the record is set straight about the North Pole in a live interview with Santa’s older, gayer drunker sister, Sandy Claus (played by Beckner).

The Bandits, Buffalo’s own lacrosse team, have a special themed night planned. Bring out the whole family for a game full of fun and winter-themed activations.
