Worker killed in forklift accident in Cheektowaga

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cheektowaga police said an industrial accident led to the death of a worker at Sonwil Distribution this past week.

According to police, a worker at the Sonwil Drive warehouse was found unresponsive and pinned by a forklift on Wednesday afternoon. Identified as 39-year-old Carlos Matos, police said he was beyond the point of life-saving efforts.

“Investigation into the incident led us to classify the event as an industrial accident,” police said.

Matos was a resident of Buffalo. It is not clear what led to him being pinned by the vehicle.
