Buffalo nonprofit Hope Rises delivers pizzas to local firehouses in honor of fallen firefighter

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hope Rises, a local nonprofit organization, partnered with Blasdell Pizza Friday to deliver pizzas to every Buffalo firehouse.

Twenty people delivered pizza to nearly 200 firefighters for lunch to honor Jason Arno, who died one year ago while fighting a fire in a three-story commercial building in Buffalo. The city remembered him this morning with a procession by the Buffalo Fire Department.

Hope Rises delivered the pizzas to show firefighters they’re thankful for their service. Not only did the Buffalo Fire Department receive free lunch, they were also gifted thank-you cards made by local children.

Hope Rises member Julie Quinn emphasized the importance of appreciating local fire departments.

“They might not live in Buffalo, ya know, where they work but…what they do is appreciated throughout Western New York,” Quinn said.
