Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle near Walden Galleria

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga, the Cheektowaga Police Department confirmed to News 4 WIVB.

Police said a pedestrian was walking on the I-90 overpass section of Walden when they “stepped off the curb” and were struck by a passing truck traveling eastbound. The incident took place around 12:30 p.m.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. They have not yet been identified by police.

Walden was closed in both directions between Galleria Drive and Duke Road for just under four hours due to the incident but has since reopened. Additionally, both the west and east I-90 ramps to Walden were closed, but they have also reopened to traffic.

The incident remains under investigation.
