Buffalo Soccer Legend Rudy Pikuzinski Starts Charity to Honor Brother’s Memory

Local soccer hero Rudy Pikuzinski has launched “I Bleed Buffalo” Merchandise to honor his brother Richie’s memory and support those battling Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) in Western New York.

Richie, a guidance counselor and school principal at the Stanley F. Falk School, sadly passed away in 2011 after a courageous battle with ALS. Richie was dedicated to helping children with special learning, social, and emotional needs, taking immense pride in making a positive impact on their lives.

Inspired by Richie’s dedication to youth and community, Rudy, a Buffalo Sports Hall of Famer and the Buffalo Blizzard’s all-time leading scorer, has partnered with Robbie Grabowski and Erik Westfield co-founders of Buff-a-logo.com to create this charitable endeavor.

Through the website ibleedbuffalo.com, supporters can purchase “I Bleed Buffalo” merchandise, every purchase equals a donation to the ALS Association in honor of Richie Pikuzinski.

“Richie loved and always represented Buffalo, his job, and his family,” Rudy said. “He was passionate about the people and the community. “I always say to my students, ‘You can never force a kid to do anything, they have to believe!”

One of the designs features a large “B” which reads, “Drive, Determination, Desire, Faith, Family, No Excuses, Heart, Sacrifice, Show Me Don’t Tell Me, Pride, You’ll Never Walk Alone. This is what it means to bleed Buffalo.”

The website offers t-shirts serving as a constant reminder of Richie’s legacy and a symbol of support for those battling this debilitating disease.

Rudy’s commitment to the game extends beyond his illustrious playing career. Alongside his son Rudy III, the duo has dedicated countless hours to coaching youth soccer, including the Buffalo Invaders, who once reached the lofty heights of #3 nationally – the highest ranking ever achieved by a WNY team.

Life is so simple. Represent your family, where you come from, and our city. I think that is the most important thing in life.
