Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann – Annual North American Conference to be held in Buffalo for the first time

The convention is considered the premier traditional Irish cultural happening in North America

From April 4 to April 7, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCE) will be hosting its annual North American Provincial gathering in Buffalo for the first time ever. The convention was initially founded by the CCE organization as a way to restore interest in, and practice of, Irish Traditional culture and language, following centuries of English suppression of Irish language and customs. To this day, the CCE organization remains one of the steadfast, most highly respected traditional Irish cultural movements in the world.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann roots were formed in Ireland 1951. The organization has grown to 430 branches in 18 countries on 4 continents.

For many Buffalonians, this can be considered a once in a lifetime event. To have a convention of this nature hosted in one’s hometown is a dream come true for anyone interested in traditional Irish culture. The next best thing would be to reserve a plane ticket to Ireland, which, for many, might not be on the immediate horizon.
