Downtown Country Market relocates to Fountain Plaza

The Downtown Country Market has a new home this year. The market, currently celebrating its 42nd year in business – is now strategically anchored at Fountain Plaza. The new location is ideally situated for a farmer’s market for a number of reasons, including the aesthetic nature of the space, with the various water features. Not to mention the arrival of Prova @ The Plaza (coming soon) restaurant that will greatly add to the vibrancy of the 500 Block of Main Street. Also, there are plenty of nearby office workers that will appreciate the convenience of the newly situated shopping experience.

The relocation of the market ultimately came about due to construction on Main Street, south of Court Street, which signaled that a new location was required. The effort to find an ideal spot was made possible thanks to a New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets Farmers Market Resiliency Grant, which allowed Buffalo Place to embark upon a data collection project with Buffalo-based firm, Hallmark Planning and Development. A survey helped to determine Fountain Plaza as the best site for the market moving forward. Sometimes it takes a seemingly negative situation to identify a more positive result, which happens to be the the case here.
