Podcast: Buffalo….Who Knew? The Glorious McKinney-Arrison House as a House Museum?

The “Buffalo…..who knew?” podcast series aims to highlight the (often under appreciated, sometimes unearthed) assets of Buffalo–particularly as it relates to the built and natural environment. It reveals up-and-coming projects, checks in on those that are already underway, and discusses some of the barriers that may impede their forward movement.

It brings together two ardent Buffalo champions—and their guests—Frits Abell and Newell Nussbaumer, who highlight the exceptionalism that, once again, attempts to embed itself in Buffalo’s ethos.

In this segment of Buffalo….who knew?, we discuss plans for the McKinney-Arrison House on Olmsted’s Lincoln Parkway.

The McKinney-Arrison House, a Renaissance Revival that boasts extraordinary craftsmanship, stained glass windows, and Italianate gardens is, without exaggeration, one of the most extraordinary in the country.

The McKinney-Arrison House, built from 1926-1929 with oil money, is amidst a major, painstaking, and meticulous multimillion dollar restoration by Clem (deceased) and Karen Arrison. Plans for the House are that it becomes one of the newest cultural assets to Buffalo: a house museum.

Join Newell, Frits, Catherine Schweitzer of the Baird Foundation, and owner Karen Arrison as we discuss this exciting opportunity for Buffalo.
