Vote for home chef Cannon Flowers, so that he can help develop new culinary programs at one of the local colleges here in WNY

One of Buffalo’s finest home chefs is competing for his dream to be a celebrity chef. Cannon Flowers, who originally hails from Texas, is currently in leading the way in the voting category within his group, but he’s counting on the Buffalo community to push him over the finish line.

Ultimately, if and when he wins the popular vote, he stands a chance of coming away with $25,000 that he would use to develop a new culinary programs in WNY.

A short interview on the Carla Hall Presents Favorite Chef website is as follows:

Who or what inspires you to cook?

The most important thing that inspires me to cook is to create tradition, show people that you love them, and nothing important in this life should be discussed without being over a wonderful meal…. “Let’s break bread together and talk about that”!

What’s your all time favorite dish to make?

My entire life, coming from a dairy farm in Texas, Mexican food and Texas favorites is what has always been one of my favorite things to cook. But then after I moved to Asia as part of my career in international finance, I learned that curry, and many other Asian dishes were equally as satisfying to me as Mexican food. At this point in my life, I continue to explore new cuisines and all the wonderful gifts that in my younger years I never experienced.

What would you do with the $25,000?

What would I do with the $25,000? I would love to use it to help develop new culinary programs at one of the local colleges here in Western New York. Programs collectively designed by other chefs in the region. Again, at my age it’s all about legacy, and what food, conversation and fellowship actually mean in a person’s life in their efforts to do good…Creating respect for the gift of food.

Aside from nabbing the $25,000, the winner will be featured on the cover of Taste of Home magazine, and will get a chance to cook with Carla Hall.

Obviously, this is a big deal from Cannon, but it’s also a big deal for Buffalo, so go ahead and place your vote, as the first cut is on Thursday, May 30 at 7PM PDT.

Stay tuned: We will keep you posted per the results of this exciting competition as the votes are tallied.
